BMO Financial Group, Technology and Solutions Toronto - 2000 to 2007

SENIOR MANAGER PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT

Accountable for quality delivery related to a suite of applications (i.e., a platform) by providing superior leadership, technical expertise and guidance to a team of IT professionals. End to end oversight of all development projects related to the platform from requirements to implementation and ultimately on-going support. Actively apply a strong understanding of standards like Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), International Organization for Standardization ( ISO), and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). This role’s overall strategic objective was to maintain the integrity and health, while increasing the value, of the Enterprise’s technology assets.

  • Achieved fiscal year budget targets within 5% each year since 2000, for all areas of functional accountability. Project budgets ranged from $100,000 to $10 million. Overall was accountable for financial management of approximately $25 million annual technology budget spends.
  • By championing the implementation of a SDLC based on the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and ISO 9001 Quality Standards I moved the groups results from an average of 35% on-time/on budget deliveries to 80% over 2 years. The team achieved CMMI maturity level 3 in June of 2007.
  • Accountable for successful implementation of more than 20 significant (>$3 million) development projects from 2000 to 2007
  • Effectively oversaw “account” relationship for between 5 and 15 business partners, the number varying based on shifting accountabilities between 2000 and 2007
  • Developed and oversaw a 3 year rolling development plan accounting for introduction of new technologies, application currency upgrades and regulatory/statutory impacts.

SENIOR BUSINESS PROJECT MANAGER (1997 to 2000)

Led a team of 12 project managers and assumed specific accountability for all large projects. Overall accountability was for provision of professional project management services to all lines of Business within the Electronic Banking (MasterCard) Division.

  • Managed the successful implementation (100% on time, budget and scope) of more than 10 projects of one to three years in duration and $10 to $25 million budget
  • Provided extensive counseling and training on project processes and deliverables for 12 direct reports
  • Defined and implemented (results oriented) industry standard project management skills
  • Acknowledged as a key subject matter expert on commerce and the credit card/electronic banking business

LOGISTICS MANAGER, (POS) (1996 – 1997)

Managed Bank owned Point of Sale (POS) equipment portfolio. Created the structure and organization and implemented the POS equipment "Logistics Department" from the ground up.

  • Reduced the cycle time for POS equipment delivery from 3 weeks to 5 days resulting in year over year revenue increase from improved equipment utilization of 20%
  • Effectively managed an equipment and services budget in excess of $2 million meeting all financial targets in the year
  • Recognized for providing strong and effective leadership to a team of seven highly qualified professionals
  • Developed “predictive” modeling for demand on POS equipment to support “just in time” inventory management
